January 2019 Recap
January 2019
Well did January last 4 years or was that just me?! I sort of said all along my January 1st was going to be February 1st. It took be about that long to get into January. In December, I was just feeling drained. Setting goals, dreaming of the future, making a business plan for the year/projections, deciding what we wanted to do as a family in 2019, workout, be healthy, ALL THE THINGS were just too much. We took 2 full weeks off with the holidays which was amazing and I will never not do that again. I went the first 4 years in business really working my way through the holidays, taking events right up until Christmas, and it stole all my joy for Christmas. I was too tired to do anything, and was just mentally wiped. That break was so great when we came back at the beginning of January. January was equal parts great, dreamy, productive, and crappy. I keep saying it but adoption is the hardest road I have ever walked. The level of rejection I have felt over the last 4 months after now not being picked 6 times is heart wrenching. You get attached, which sounds silly, but you do. I start dreaming and planning regarding timing & managing work and start making a plan, only to be told nope not now. I know all that means is that the child God is working on for us isn’t here yet or we just have been been connected yet. We have done two rounds of fertility treatments in the last 6 weeks. Also crappy, but way better than the medication I was on most of 2018--again sorry to anyone who had to deal with me May 2018-November 2018. I was a nightmare and I apologize.
We had some good stuff happen in January too. I traveled to St Simon’s Island for the first time for a site visit for a March client which was such a great time. What a cute place! We kicked off 2019 weddings with one GORGEOUS event that I am so proud of for a dear friend of mine. I went to California with two of my biz besties, Ashley & Ginny, & attended an amazing work retreat for entrepreneurs lead by my new girl crush Sara Christensen. It was seriously one of the best events I have ever been to. The amount of clarity, vision, and just general goodness I got from being around AMAZING business owners was so inspirational. It really was a pivotal moment in my entrepreneurial journey & I can’t wait to share what is to come from that. I also met THE Amy Porterfield and was kinda star struck! After the event, Ashley, Ginny & I spent a day and half in San Diego just exploring, eating guac, and enjoying being together. They fill my soul with such goodness & I am counting down until the next Encourager’s Club getaway!

Lee & his mom painted our kitchen which you got to see here. Now of course, we want to remodel the whole thing. Why does new paint do that?! Makes you want to change everything. We are thinking cabinets and floors are next...pray for me/us.
We enjoyed some time together on a few date nights, and just getting back to the routines of life. I joined a new gym and am LOVING it. Thanks to my pal Courtney for inviting me to 80’s dance night at the gym and being such a motivator! I am working on some things with the Tuscaloosa junior league which has been such a great experience & meeting new people.
January also brought the start of this little blog. I appreciate all the feedback & kind words I have gotten. I love to write & it is seriously cathartic for me. I journal everyday but I also love sharing what’s going on in our little world here. So thanks for reading and seeing what the Storks are up to!
So I think that was January folks! Here’s to February: the month of love, the hopefully last bad cold month of the season, our adoption fundraiser, my Pop Pop turning 85!, hopefully progress in the adoption lane, and where you lack guilt for eating that brownie because Whole 30 or whatever is now over ;)
Xoxo
