Hi.

Welcome to our blog. Our blog is all about our family, adoption journey, and antics in the stork house!

Home Project

Well because Lee and I like to test the limits of our marriage, we decided to paint our kitchen ourselves. When I say we decided, I mean me lol. Although he & my wonderful, saint of a mother-in-law did the actual painting.

Our whole house was this horrid brown/taupe flat paint color, and probably hadn’t been refreshed in 15 years. We had our living room/foyer/hall painted last summer because it is a two story ceiling we couldn’t do that ourselves. So with the adoption looming, we decided painting ourselves was a better use of our resources for this project. Why does a fresh can of paint make you want to change everything?! I now would like to refinish the cabinets, tile, counters…but one thing at a time! Lee did such a great job adding crown molding to the ceiling and it just looks so much more complete. We had a slight color disaster, but got it right on the second try…sorry Mom & Lee.

I wish we could do ALL the home things we want to do at once but really prioritizing the projects has helped give me a savings a goal, and something to look forward to. This year I’d like to get the dining room painted, our half bath downstairs painted or wallpapered (I want to do a big fun graphic print in there!), replace our shutters & front door. Those are the big ones in 2019. Of course, babies will probably derail these projects but I am a girl who loves a plan :)

Adoption life: thank you for all who have pre-ordered items for our fundraiser, and are planning on coming that day! You can find out all the details here. We continue to ask for your prayers as we prepare our hearts, and our home for our baby to be here soon, we hope. We ask you pray for our future birth mother, and that she might find comfort, and strength admidst making the hardest decision someone can make. We are still in that wait time. Some days are easier than others. Some days I can go in the baby’s future room, do things in there, clean up, organize, plan & dream. Others, I can hardly bring myself to even go upstairs because it is a reminder of what hasn’t happened yet. I’d like to tell ya I know what you’ll get that day but it is like a box of chocolates, you never know! The love, and support we have is really what gets me up everyday. That, the barking dogs, and that really cute hubs of mine. He’s the rock of my life—what would I do without him? I’d have ugly brown walls, and that’s just no way to live folks.

xoxo

Paint on the walls! It took 2 colors to find the right one, but it looks great!

It looks pretty great! The crown molding really just finished the room well. Paint is Magnolia Soft Linen from Benjamin Moore. I now would like new doors, new trim color, new cabinets, and basically new everything…pray for Lee.
