Hi.

Welcome to our blog. Our blog is all about our family, adoption journey, and antics in the stork house!

Quarantine Life Part I

What a weird time to be alive, right? We have pretty much been quarantined since March 16th. I have basically left to go to doctor’s appointments. once to the pharmacy, and well that is about it. I am a social butterfly, I have a very interactive, personal job, serve in 2 organizations, and all that interaction…gone. It has been MUCH harder than I thought it would be. Lee works in our local hospital. Him leaving to go to work everyday, unsure of what he is walking into, exposed to, has been very emotional for me. I am grateful right now he has not been exposed as far as we know and is not on a COVID floor or caring for COVID patients…yet.

I have reschedule 8 weddings so far. Our vendors have been amazing. I am grateful the community I work in and the clients I serve. It has been emotional to say the least. We are now turning our attention to our weddings in later 2020, what’s to come in 2021, and navigating SBA loan stuff. Being a business owner is not always days off, lunches with friends, and doing whatever you want. I also lead a group of 3k wedding pros. I have done webinars, live videos, coaching and other resources for our community navigating these new waters.

The first week of this I was in work mode. Pure survival to take care of the business. This last week I have been experiencing more of my own personal emotions more.

While passing the time, Lee and I have done some productive things, and some not so productive things. We painted our half bath(well, Lee did—looks TEN times better!), done yard work, and made a list of some projects to come because let’s be honest we are doing to be here a while. I have read a few books which I enjoyed, and tried some new recipes! We have played cards, and listened to the Dave Matthews streamed show.

There is beauty in the brokenness of the world. Neighbors helping each other, neighbors meeting for the first time, slower speeds. When I feel the fear, anxiety, and nerves, I try to remember the good. List the things I am grateful for a mindset shift.

So if you need help passing the time here is what I have read:

Burying the Honeysuckle Girls

The Royal Holiday

The Proposal

The Death of Mrs. Westway

Recipes:

Turkey Stroganoff — SO good, tastes way richer than it is. Add some spinach for additional greens! Was amazingly better the next day even.

Auntie Laura’s Banana Bread — my aunt’s banana bread recipe. Fam recipe but really the key here is REALLY ripe bananas. I added cranberries to ours. You can add nuts, chocolate chips, whatever you like!

Homemade pasta sauce — Pop Pop’s recipe. My Italian Grandfather’s Mother’s recipe. Really the key is in the type of tomatoes. We prefer the Tuttorosso tomatoes. Low and slow is your key here.

Poblano Cream Sauce — put this on everything. Tacos, sandwiches, burgers, eggs, use as a dip. SO GOOD. Will become a staple in our fridge for sure!

Find somewhere that sells Cookie Fix cookie dough. Will make quarantine way better.

So this is our quarantine life part I. What has your quarantine looked like?
