Adoption Fundraiser
To say our fundraiser was overwhelming in the best ways would be an understatement. My friend Mallory approached me about doing mini photo sessions as a fundraiser for us, and we decided to theme the photos for Valentine’s Day. Then other friends wanted to contribute their special talents to help us raise funds for our adoption. Asking for money is a strange, weird thing that we don’t do. We work hard, & make good livings. Depending on when we match, and how far along the birth mother is that could be quick. We have changed our lifestyle, and spending habits to save as much as we can each month. We went into adoption thinking $30,000 in savings would be reasonable for the adoption. In reality, most situations we have seen have been between $40,000-$50,000 + travel expenses we will incur, as well as finalization expenses when we finalize the adoption eventually. When we are matched, a certain amount will be due upfront, and then the final amount due at the time of birth. We could have a week’s notice, we could have a few months notice depending on the situation we match with. We are trying to do this debt free as well, as that is our goal together as a couple to be debt free. So sometimes you have to ask for help. The funny thing is there are so many people willing to help in so many ways. We are so grateful to every single person that came to support us, buy flowers, a cake, some cookies, and/or had their photos done with Mallory. My generous friend Jennifer donated the space, coffee, and cookies to us at Caveat Coffee. Mary Lou & Jessica provided the most adorable heart balloon design that just brightened the space & made it so festive. Thank you to CeCe Designs for the florals, my mother in law for the cakes, & sweet friend Sarah for the yummy cookies! Also thank you to my friend Rachel for helping set up & just manage the event overall. Couldn’t have done it without you. The pictures really just say a thousand words, and to say we are blessed just doesn’t even cover it. What a blessing it will be to share with our child one day how much they were loved before they were even here. After a hard few weeks, this fundraiser filled our hearts & spirits so much. Thank you doesn’t even begin to cover it
